World Premiere Sundance Film Festival 2007

Director Brett Morgen (The Kid Stays in the Picture) employs an innovative blend of archival footage and motion-capture animation to bring the story of the infamous 1968 Democratic National Convention to life for a modern audience. A parable of hope, courage and ultimate victory, Chicago 10 brings a unique and unconventional style to explore the explosive build-up, and the eventual unraveling, of the Chicago conspiracy trial. A star-studded voice cast featuring Jeffrey Wright, Liev Schreiber and Mark Ruffalo brings the story to life of the eight demonstrators who were arrested and tried for conspiracy in the wake of the violent anti-war protests.

“Brett Morgen's absurdly engaging docudrama... is Grade-A agitpop, a mixture of archival footage and cheeky, creative animated reconstruction that's funny and frightening in equal measure.”
Boston Globe

“The animation sequences, based on the trial transcript, successfully capture the absurdity of the proceedings, although the best parts of the movie come when Morgen presents documentary footage of the violence in the streets.”
St. Louis Post Dispatch
Chicago 10 is well worth seeing... the 1968 Democratic Convention has never been presented this fully, and it unfolds as a revelatory chunk of social history.”
Entertainment Weekly

Chicago 10 not only brings to life one of the sorriest chapters in American cultural and political history, but breathes new life into a film genre.”
Washington Post
